Denver Engagement Photography, Rachel and James

Rachel and James' engagement session was so grand!  Rachel really wanted to do pictures with snow and since scheduling our schedules and snow all at the same time seemed so daunting, we were just keeping an eye on the weather and hoping we were all free.  And alas!  Predicted snow turned into real snow and we were all free!  I have known Rachel for such a long time and I really wanted these pictures to be perfect, I was very grateful that it worked.  We couldn't have asked for a better snowy day!

This was such a wonderful spot, it was the spot of their first kiss.  They told me the whole story, both with stars in their eyes and grins on their faces.  There had been some talk about what was up there and what Barteldes meant and somehow it led to that magical kiss.  Although, I do have to say so much of everything is magical with Rachel.  She is just amazing, spectacular and awesome.  And she has found someone just as special in James.  I am so happy for both of them.
You may wonder what in the world Rachel is doing and why James is holding her up...  I thought it would be so cute to write their summer wedding date in the snow.  Rachel was very willing to do such a thing, it is always so nice to have such accommodating couples!
I love these at the Tattered Cover!  I was a little worried about the light because with the overcast sky and limited window seating and light, it was a tad bit dark in there!  I was very pleased with how they came out and am totally in love with them!

On the staircase, there was a draft, which was perfect for the hair blown look.  I so wish I could carry a draft in my camera bag!  How perfect would that be??

Let's not say anything about the man in the corner...

I love this one! And I love the snow and everything about this night was perfect!  I can't wait for the wedding!

Elli, Senior Pictures

I was so excited for this session — my very first full Senior Session! These types of sessions are always my favorite!   It means I am getting back to work and there is always something so special about capturing a person right on the edge of everything new. And with Elli, I knew it was going to be a great one. From the moment we started planning, her energy and excitement made it clear: this was going to be one for the books. And it was — even with the weather throwing us a little curveball. About halfway through the session, the skies opened up and we had to pause for a solid 45 minutes. But honestly? Even that didn’t take away from how amazing the day was. The rain gave us a chance to slow down, laugh, and reset — and when we got going again, everything felt a little more magical - and the lighting post-rain? Gorgeous!   I was hoping for a rainbow, but sadly we missed that! Elli is such a joy to be around. She’s incredibly sweet, the kind of person who makes y...

Grace Senior Pictures, Boulder Co

Sometimes the best things are worth the wait—and Grace’s senior session was definitely one of those moments. After rescheduling thanks to Colorado’s unpredictable rain (seriously, the rain wasn’t acting the way it’s supposed to!), we finally landed the most beautiful day . There was just the right amount of sparkle in the air—it was perfect. Grace is such a delightfully beautiful young lady, inside and out. Her energy is gentle but radiant, and from the moment she showed up, she was so excited to be in front of the camera. That kind of enthusiasm? It’s contagious—and honestly, I was just as excited as she was! We had a great time exploring by the creek, Chautauqua and the top of Flagstaff   Mountain and soaking in that golden light, and creating portraits that felt so her. And then…I brought out the mylar. 😄 I had this fun, artsy idea to play with reflections and light using sheets of mylar—something a little different, a little sparkly, and totally dreamy. Turns out...

Alex, Senior Pictures

When I talked to Alex's mom, she said he really didn't want to do pictures and she thought the best thing to do was to do family pictures and then sneak some senior pictures in.  I don't usually do that, but I figured that she knew how he would be the most comfortable and what would be the most successful.    I am so glad that we did it this way, she was definitely right!  I hope Alex at least had a decent time, but I could tell that he was not really into it - maybe if I'd had another hour with him....  just kidding, I think that would have made him super anxious!  I just hope in the future he keeps allowing himself to be photographed for those he loves.  Because even though he didn't want to do it, he did a great job and didn't complain at all.                                                 ...
