San Jose High School Senior Pictures, Lexi

It was so exciting to do my beautiful niece's High School Senior Pictures!  We had 1 day to do them and it was the first day of A LOT of rain in California.  That morning I sat with my mother-in-law watching the weather as rivers got bigger, roads were being washed out and the ground was just getting soggy.  And all I could think was "yes!  I finally get to use umbrellas in the rain and not just because I love them."  Not everyone was as excited as I was, but I knew it was doable.  Even if it was a little cold.  I love all the different looks we got!  I don't think we would have done so many different places if it hadn't been raining!  It was a total score for me!

Lexi is in community and high school theater, she has performed in this building.  It was pretty cool to be there and hear about all her upcoming theater adventures!
We went into the Westin to get away from the cold and rain.  Usually hotels are helpful and willing to have me there - as long as I stay out of the way of guests and staff.  They were not as accommodating, but luckily they let us stay (I begged and pleaded a little!  Or a whole lot...  But we got to stay!)  I love these images!  They were so much fun!  And what a beautiful room!  It was fantastic!  I couldn't use flash, one of my begging points, and there were some times I really needed just a little bit more light, but it all worked out.

 I love this one!

 I love these images outside!

Here is a little video of Lexi skipping in the rain!  It is so cute!

Elli, Senior Pictures

I was so excited for this session — my very first full Senior Session! These types of sessions are always my favorite!   It means I am getting back to work and there is always something so special about capturing a person right on the edge of everything new. And with Elli, I knew it was going to be a great one. From the moment we started planning, her energy and excitement made it clear: this was going to be one for the books. And it was — even with the weather throwing us a little curveball. About halfway through the session, the skies opened up and we had to pause for a solid 45 minutes. But honestly? Even that didn’t take away from how amazing the day was. The rain gave us a chance to slow down, laugh, and reset — and when we got going again, everything felt a little more magical - and the lighting post-rain? Gorgeous!   I was hoping for a rainbow, but sadly we missed that! Elli is such a joy to be around. She’s incredibly sweet, the kind of person who makes y...

Grace Senior Pictures, Boulder Co

Sometimes the best things are worth the wait—and Grace’s senior session was definitely one of those moments. After rescheduling thanks to Colorado’s unpredictable rain (seriously, the rain wasn’t acting the way it’s supposed to!), we finally landed the most beautiful day . There was just the right amount of sparkle in the air—it was perfect. Grace is such a delightfully beautiful young lady, inside and out. Her energy is gentle but radiant, and from the moment she showed up, she was so excited to be in front of the camera. That kind of enthusiasm? It’s contagious—and honestly, I was just as excited as she was! We had a great time exploring by the creek, Chautauqua and the top of Flagstaff   Mountain and soaking in that golden light, and creating portraits that felt so her. And then…I brought out the mylar. 😄 I had this fun, artsy idea to play with reflections and light using sheets of mylar—something a little different, a little sparkly, and totally dreamy. Turns out...

Alex, Senior Pictures

When I talked to Alex's mom, she said he really didn't want to do pictures and she thought the best thing to do was to do family pictures and then sneak some senior pictures in.  I don't usually do that, but I figured that she knew how he would be the most comfortable and what would be the most successful.    I am so glad that we did it this way, she was definitely right!  I hope Alex at least had a decent time, but I could tell that he was not really into it - maybe if I'd had another hour with him....  just kidding, I think that would have made him super anxious!  I just hope in the future he keeps allowing himself to be photographed for those he loves.  Because even though he didn't want to do it, he did a great job and didn't complain at all.                                                 ...
