Denver Senior Pictures, Aidan

I can't believe it has taken me so long to get these up... it's like I am in massive denial that this kid graduated from high school - a MONTH ago!  I only took these images 7 months ago...  It is just incredibly hard when he's the youngest of three and belongs to me.  And it wasn't exactly a "normal" year.  So much was unknown and really just quite boring because nothing was happening.  I felt like I was sitting on the edge of my seat holding my breath for months!  And then just like that, the end of the school year was approaching - he was able to be in a musical, graduation was actually going to be a thing and he started hanging out with friends again.  And just like a record that was set on the slow setting was reset to the normal setting it was all over in a flash.  It all seems so surreal.  Like a big long stress dream about how my youngest's Senior Year was going to be.
But I have wonderful pictures of my baby boy and I am so grateful that we got to hang out and do this together!
This kid and his dog!  When he was younger that is all he talked about!  Piper this and Piper that. Piper, Piper, Piper!  So of course she had to be in some of the pictures.  Even though her Pug anxiety was front and center!  She still did a good job!

I must have said something questionable... Or maybe I was being too much of a mom....
I love this one!

We of course had to do something at the Denver Performing Arts Center!  We had originally planned to go inside and do some there, but then this pandemic thing happened and like so many things we had to be flexible and do it differently.  And I really love these, so it all worked out!

I am lucky he was cooperating at all!

Elli, Senior Pictures

I was so excited for this session — my very first full Senior Session! These types of sessions are always my favorite!   It means I am getting back to work and there is always something so special about capturing a person right on the edge of everything new. And with Elli, I knew it was going to be a great one. From the moment we started planning, her energy and excitement made it clear: this was going to be one for the books. And it was — even with the weather throwing us a little curveball. About halfway through the session, the skies opened up and we had to pause for a solid 45 minutes. But honestly? Even that didn’t take away from how amazing the day was. The rain gave us a chance to slow down, laugh, and reset — and when we got going again, everything felt a little more magical - and the lighting post-rain? Gorgeous!   I was hoping for a rainbow, but sadly we missed that! Elli is such a joy to be around. She’s incredibly sweet, the kind of person who makes y...

Grace Senior Pictures, Boulder Co

Sometimes the best things are worth the wait—and Grace’s senior session was definitely one of those moments. After rescheduling thanks to Colorado’s unpredictable rain (seriously, the rain wasn’t acting the way it’s supposed to!), we finally landed the most beautiful day . There was just the right amount of sparkle in the air—it was perfect. Grace is such a delightfully beautiful young lady, inside and out. Her energy is gentle but radiant, and from the moment she showed up, she was so excited to be in front of the camera. That kind of enthusiasm? It’s contagious—and honestly, I was just as excited as she was! We had a great time exploring by the creek, Chautauqua and the top of Flagstaff   Mountain and soaking in that golden light, and creating portraits that felt so her. And then…I brought out the mylar. 😄 I had this fun, artsy idea to play with reflections and light using sheets of mylar—something a little different, a little sparkly, and totally dreamy. Turns out...

Alex, Senior Pictures

When I talked to Alex's mom, she said he really didn't want to do pictures and she thought the best thing to do was to do family pictures and then sneak some senior pictures in.  I don't usually do that, but I figured that she knew how he would be the most comfortable and what would be the most successful.    I am so glad that we did it this way, she was definitely right!  I hope Alex at least had a decent time, but I could tell that he was not really into it - maybe if I'd had another hour with him....  just kidding, I think that would have made him super anxious!  I just hope in the future he keeps allowing himself to be photographed for those he loves.  Because even though he didn't want to do it, he did a great job and didn't complain at all.                                                 ...
