New Mexico

I feel like I have been ignoring my blog... Well, probably everything! This time of year is definitely slow and after the holidays, it's hard to get going again! This year was particularly hard, there has been so much sickness in our house that I keep loosing my focus like a cat loosing the string! I am hoping we are all done with the sickness...

I thought I would share some of my photographs from our little trip to New Mexico. We left Nick home... by himself... all by himself, kind of freaked me out! Just a little bit! He did great-ish, there was quite a mess and several 2 liters of pop all over. But that's pretty darn good for a teenager I guess. He and his friend Brent put together a large fort, you can check out their video here - it is pretty cool!

We really went to see the Luminaries, they are quite wonderful!  But we missed the best show, that is Christmas Eve in Santa Fe (I suppose other places too, but Santa Fe's is fabulous!).  I was so glad that many buildings had these plastic like Luminaries up!  They are just fabulous and quite beautiful!

I took this picture as we were turning around in the middle of the street, I just loved the old house!  I can only imagine all the memories and events that that house has seen!

Such cuteness!  They were not in the mood to have photos taken, but I convinced them that they should and they must!
I love these boats!  I would love to try and build one myself.
And the ladders!  We also saw folding bowls made out of used chop-sticks, I really wish I had taken a picture of those!

Elli, Senior Pictures

I was so excited for this session — my very first full Senior Session! These types of sessions are always my favorite!   It means I am getting back to work and there is always something so special about capturing a person right on the edge of everything new. And with Elli, I knew it was going to be a great one. From the moment we started planning, her energy and excitement made it clear: this was going to be one for the books. And it was — even with the weather throwing us a little curveball. About halfway through the session, the skies opened up and we had to pause for a solid 45 minutes. But honestly? Even that didn’t take away from how amazing the day was. The rain gave us a chance to slow down, laugh, and reset — and when we got going again, everything felt a little more magical - and the lighting post-rain? Gorgeous!   I was hoping for a rainbow, but sadly we missed that! Elli is such a joy to be around. She’s incredibly sweet, the kind of person who makes y...

Grace Senior Pictures, Boulder Co

Sometimes the best things are worth the wait—and Grace’s senior session was definitely one of those moments. After rescheduling thanks to Colorado’s unpredictable rain (seriously, the rain wasn’t acting the way it’s supposed to!), we finally landed the most beautiful day . There was just the right amount of sparkle in the air—it was perfect. Grace is such a delightfully beautiful young lady, inside and out. Her energy is gentle but radiant, and from the moment she showed up, she was so excited to be in front of the camera. That kind of enthusiasm? It’s contagious—and honestly, I was just as excited as she was! We had a great time exploring by the creek, Chautauqua and the top of Flagstaff   Mountain and soaking in that golden light, and creating portraits that felt so her. And then…I brought out the mylar. 😄 I had this fun, artsy idea to play with reflections and light using sheets of mylar—something a little different, a little sparkly, and totally dreamy. Turns out...

Alex, Senior Pictures

When I talked to Alex's mom, she said he really didn't want to do pictures and she thought the best thing to do was to do family pictures and then sneak some senior pictures in.  I don't usually do that, but I figured that she knew how he would be the most comfortable and what would be the most successful.    I am so glad that we did it this way, she was definitely right!  I hope Alex at least had a decent time, but I could tell that he was not really into it - maybe if I'd had another hour with him....  just kidding, I think that would have made him super anxious!  I just hope in the future he keeps allowing himself to be photographed for those he loves.  Because even though he didn't want to do it, he did a great job and didn't complain at all.                                                 ...
