Brighton Family Pictures, TerriLynn and John

TerriLynn didn't want traditional family pictures, she wanted to capture her family as they were doing their thing. I was so excited because I love doing sessions like that! We talked about each of her grandkids and kids and what they were all into. We had a plan about what we would do for each of them. And then I showed up and it was windy as heck! And all our plans went with the wind. But we adapted and still came up with some amazing images!

I loved all the play and hugs!
Sometimes you just have to stop and stare up at the sky!

Never have I ever had to stop in the middle of a portrait session because a rogue child attacked my subjects!  It was pretty awesome!
I love how cuddly these guys were!

I love how exuberant all these guys were!  I was so caught off guard I almost missed the shot!

I don't want anyone thinking I left a family out, because I didn't!  We are doing their family pictures in a few weeks and I didn't want to spoil any surprises!
The shenanigans... at the end of the night I didn't want to leave!  I was pretty sure it just got better and better after I left!

And this is what it looks like when you ask 16 people to assemble.

What is usually happening behind the photographer when small kids are involved.
Grandparent sneak hug attack!

I love how wonderful these two are!  They have such a beautiful family!

I could have laid down on the ground for hours and had these kids run at me!  The personalities, the kindness, the competition, the excitement and fun of all these kids was wonderful!  This is why I love kids so much!  The simple things seem so big and marvelous and the most enjoyable of things.

So much laughter!
TerriLynn wanted to make sure to get a picture of them singing (I forgot the song already!)  I loved this idea and I couldn't wait for it to happen!  It was so marvelous to watch (and hear) these amazing women be themselves and sing their hearts out!

Elli, Senior Pictures

I was so excited for this session — my very first full Senior Session! These types of sessions are always my favorite!   It means I am getting back to work and there is always something so special about capturing a person right on the edge of everything new. And with Elli, I knew it was going to be a great one. From the moment we started planning, her energy and excitement made it clear: this was going to be one for the books. And it was — even with the weather throwing us a little curveball. About halfway through the session, the skies opened up and we had to pause for a solid 45 minutes. But honestly? Even that didn’t take away from how amazing the day was. The rain gave us a chance to slow down, laugh, and reset — and when we got going again, everything felt a little more magical - and the lighting post-rain? Gorgeous!   I was hoping for a rainbow, but sadly we missed that! Elli is such a joy to be around. She’s incredibly sweet, the kind of person who makes y...

Grace Senior Pictures, Boulder Co

Sometimes the best things are worth the wait—and Grace’s senior session was definitely one of those moments. After rescheduling thanks to Colorado’s unpredictable rain (seriously, the rain wasn’t acting the way it’s supposed to!), we finally landed the most beautiful day . There was just the right amount of sparkle in the air—it was perfect. Grace is such a delightfully beautiful young lady, inside and out. Her energy is gentle but radiant, and from the moment she showed up, she was so excited to be in front of the camera. That kind of enthusiasm? It’s contagious—and honestly, I was just as excited as she was! We had a great time exploring by the creek, Chautauqua and the top of Flagstaff   Mountain and soaking in that golden light, and creating portraits that felt so her. And then…I brought out the mylar. 😄 I had this fun, artsy idea to play with reflections and light using sheets of mylar—something a little different, a little sparkly, and totally dreamy. Turns out...

Alex, Senior Pictures

When I talked to Alex's mom, she said he really didn't want to do pictures and she thought the best thing to do was to do family pictures and then sneak some senior pictures in.  I don't usually do that, but I figured that she knew how he would be the most comfortable and what would be the most successful.    I am so glad that we did it this way, she was definitely right!  I hope Alex at least had a decent time, but I could tell that he was not really into it - maybe if I'd had another hour with him....  just kidding, I think that would have made him super anxious!  I just hope in the future he keeps allowing himself to be photographed for those he loves.  Because even though he didn't want to do it, he did a great job and didn't complain at all.                                                 ...
