Golden Senior Pictures, Maason

Per usual, I was so excited that Maason's parents asked me to do his senior pictures! They are our neighbors and I know that there are no givens in photography, there are so many photographers and family friends that are out there! So I was over the moon when we started talking! And being his neighbor, I know a few things about Maason - he plays baseball, works really hard, plays more baseball, helps out whenever we need to bring heavy things into the house, plays baseball (again) and always says hi to us whenever we see him. When I photographed him, I got to know a few more things about him - he is incredibly patient, the 20 minute rain shower proved that; he is super present and in the moment and if you are talking to him he is really listening! It was awesome!

I love this image, he has the best smile!
After the rain, we got this amazing double rainbow!  It was so awesome!

So this rock is in the MIDDLE of the river!  I said to Maason, "go sit on that rock over there," it was on the shore.  Maason said "you mean that one in middle of the river?" And I thought about it for a quick second and said "YES!"  So he hiked his pants above his knee and waded out and then threw himself on the rock and scrambled up the rest of the way.  I should have taken video... but you can see him walking out to the rock in the next image!

Did I mention he plays baseball?  And when I say he plays baseball, I mean that he plays all year long and is gone for extended times for tournaments and such.  This kid is baseball!

This one is one of my absolute favorites!  I was a little irritated with the weather for the 20 minute delay we had, but we probably wouldn't have gotten this image with the dusky sky if it hadn't been for the rain.  Now, for the next time I know to ask for a better sunset!

Elli, Senior Pictures

I was so excited for this session — my very first full Senior Session! These types of sessions are always my favorite!   It means I am getting back to work and there is always something so special about capturing a person right on the edge of everything new. And with Elli, I knew it was going to be a great one. From the moment we started planning, her energy and excitement made it clear: this was going to be one for the books. And it was — even with the weather throwing us a little curveball. About halfway through the session, the skies opened up and we had to pause for a solid 45 minutes. But honestly? Even that didn’t take away from how amazing the day was. The rain gave us a chance to slow down, laugh, and reset — and when we got going again, everything felt a little more magical - and the lighting post-rain? Gorgeous!   I was hoping for a rainbow, but sadly we missed that! Elli is such a joy to be around. She’s incredibly sweet, the kind of person who makes y...

Grace Senior Pictures, Boulder Co

Sometimes the best things are worth the wait—and Grace’s senior session was definitely one of those moments. After rescheduling thanks to Colorado’s unpredictable rain (seriously, the rain wasn’t acting the way it’s supposed to!), we finally landed the most beautiful day . There was just the right amount of sparkle in the air—it was perfect. Grace is such a delightfully beautiful young lady, inside and out. Her energy is gentle but radiant, and from the moment she showed up, she was so excited to be in front of the camera. That kind of enthusiasm? It’s contagious—and honestly, I was just as excited as she was! We had a great time exploring by the creek, Chautauqua and the top of Flagstaff   Mountain and soaking in that golden light, and creating portraits that felt so her. And then…I brought out the mylar. 😄 I had this fun, artsy idea to play with reflections and light using sheets of mylar—something a little different, a little sparkly, and totally dreamy. Turns out...

Alex, Senior Pictures

When I talked to Alex's mom, she said he really didn't want to do pictures and she thought the best thing to do was to do family pictures and then sneak some senior pictures in.  I don't usually do that, but I figured that she knew how he would be the most comfortable and what would be the most successful.    I am so glad that we did it this way, she was definitely right!  I hope Alex at least had a decent time, but I could tell that he was not really into it - maybe if I'd had another hour with him....  just kidding, I think that would have made him super anxious!  I just hope in the future he keeps allowing himself to be photographed for those he loves.  Because even though he didn't want to do it, he did a great job and didn't complain at all.                                                 ...
