A personal post, our vacation back East

I thought I would finally post some images from our vacation to New York, Delaware and Washington DC!  It was quite a trip, full of lots of fun!

This was all Makaela wanted to do in New York.  Go to an anime shop and when we finally found it, she was elated!

Everything is bigger in New York!  Look HUGE Sweetarts!

I took this at the 9/11 Memorial.  I'm not sure which image I like better, this one or the one below.

This place was awesome!  There were insults all over the door, inside the restaurant and on the menu.  It kept us entertained for quite awhile.

This is Aidan and my cousin's dog Layla.  She is the sweetest dog ever!
This was my hair for my cousin's wedding.  I have to say, it looks pretty fabulous!
And here are all the bobby pins that came out of my hair.
The day after my cousin's wedding or two days after the wedding, or maybe 3 days later, I can't really remember, anyway we went to the river.  It was awesomely cold, but the kids had a blast!

One day after the wedding, before we headed to DC, we went to Pennsylvania.  I love how old everything was!  In Colorado, we have some old buildings, but not a lot.  And it was awesome to see the moss on things, we also don't get that much.  And whole areas had these old barns that had to be 100+ years.  It was absolutely amazing!

The DC Zoo was pretty cool!  The animals seemed to have a lot of space and there were multiple viewing areas for each enclosure, I really liked that aspect of the zoo!

We almost missed the Red Panda,  we saw it from above, but couldn't see much and after we walked down the path and around a few corners they had just taken it inside for a check up.  Aidan was really bummed because that's what he wanted to see at the zoo.  But when we came back, there it was!  So glad it wasn't snoozing in a corner somewhere.
The week after we left, the Red Panda disappeared from it's enclosure, I haven't heard if they found it yet, so we were really lucky to see it!

If you are ever in DC, I suggest going here!  The Chili dogs are amazing!  But get the smoked dog, it is way better than the "normal" one.

Elli, Senior Pictures

I was so excited for this session — my very first full Senior Session! These types of sessions are always my favorite!   It means I am getting back to work and there is always something so special about capturing a person right on the edge of everything new. And with Elli, I knew it was going to be a great one. From the moment we started planning, her energy and excitement made it clear: this was going to be one for the books. And it was — even with the weather throwing us a little curveball. About halfway through the session, the skies opened up and we had to pause for a solid 45 minutes. But honestly? Even that didn’t take away from how amazing the day was. The rain gave us a chance to slow down, laugh, and reset — and when we got going again, everything felt a little more magical - and the lighting post-rain? Gorgeous!   I was hoping for a rainbow, but sadly we missed that! Elli is such a joy to be around. She’s incredibly sweet, the kind of person who makes y...

Grace Senior Pictures, Boulder Co

Sometimes the best things are worth the wait—and Grace’s senior session was definitely one of those moments. After rescheduling thanks to Colorado’s unpredictable rain (seriously, the rain wasn’t acting the way it’s supposed to!), we finally landed the most beautiful day . There was just the right amount of sparkle in the air—it was perfect. Grace is such a delightfully beautiful young lady, inside and out. Her energy is gentle but radiant, and from the moment she showed up, she was so excited to be in front of the camera. That kind of enthusiasm? It’s contagious—and honestly, I was just as excited as she was! We had a great time exploring by the creek, Chautauqua and the top of Flagstaff   Mountain and soaking in that golden light, and creating portraits that felt so her. And then…I brought out the mylar. 😄 I had this fun, artsy idea to play with reflections and light using sheets of mylar—something a little different, a little sparkly, and totally dreamy. Turns out...

Alex, Senior Pictures

When I talked to Alex's mom, she said he really didn't want to do pictures and she thought the best thing to do was to do family pictures and then sneak some senior pictures in.  I don't usually do that, but I figured that she knew how he would be the most comfortable and what would be the most successful.    I am so glad that we did it this way, she was definitely right!  I hope Alex at least had a decent time, but I could tell that he was not really into it - maybe if I'd had another hour with him....  just kidding, I think that would have made him super anxious!  I just hope in the future he keeps allowing himself to be photographed for those he loves.  Because even though he didn't want to do it, he did a great job and didn't complain at all.                                                 ...
