Colorado High School Senior Pictures, My very own son

I know sometimes people get a little anxious to see their pictures...  And I try really hard to get them done quickly.... Unless you happen to be a family member... Then maybe not so much.... My son graduated in 2012.  And today - TODAY - I just finished his Senior Pictures.  I would calculate the months and days it has taken me to finish them, but I would only be adding another 5 minutes to that total and I still have to finish his sister's Senior Pictures.

This is not normal.  For most High School Seniors.  But totally normal for my kid.

Oh my!  Those shoes!  I can't believe I let him wear those!  And I really can't believe they are still on his feet and didn't just fall off in the picture!

And again, not normal... But for my kid... (sigh) NORMAL.

When he was little and I taking a photography class, I needed a model.  I figured it was a slam dunk, I didn't have to find a model, I had a 5 year old.  But he didn't want to do it and kept expecting me to give him more and more money for every new project.  It was quite annoying and totally not worth the strife and the money I had dish out!  The majority of his childhood he had a hand in front of his face if there was a camera nearby.  So, when it was time to do his Senior Pictures, I said I would hire someone else - anyone he wanted.  But he said it was fine if I did it.  So we did.  (All the images above.)  And then one night, he wanted to go out again.  And again.  I was over the moon!  And it made up for all the strife from his uncaptured childhood!

Tanner's Senior Pictures, Boulder

This young man! He is fantastic! I loved that he knew what he wanted and we were able to find some marvelous spots!  Look at those colors!  They were so amazing!   I did Tanner's  sisters senior pictures  a few years ago and these two are just wonderful kids!  I really love working with their family!  They are just wonderful people! I love this one! I just love this one of these two! We were done and on the way back to the car when I saw the sky and I was I like we have to do more!  I ran to my car, got a light and we did a few more pictures! I love this one! I absolutely love this shirt!  It is so awesome! Elli, Senior Pictures

I was so excited for this session — my very first full Senior Session! These types of sessions are always my favorite!   It means I am getting back to work and there is always something so special about capturing a person right on the edge of everything new. And with Elli, I knew it was going to be a great one. From the moment we started planning, her energy and excitement made it clear: this was going to be one for the books. And it was — even with the weather throwing us a little curveball. About halfway through the session, the skies opened up and we had to pause for a solid 45 minutes. But honestly? Even that didn’t take away from how amazing the day was. The rain gave us a chance to slow down, laugh, and reset — and when we got going again, everything felt a little more magical - and the lighting post-rain? Gorgeous!   I was hoping for a rainbow, but sadly we missed that! Elli is such a joy to be around. She’s incredibly sweet, the kind of person who makes y...

Alex, Senior Pictures

When I talked to Alex's mom, she said he really didn't want to do pictures and she thought the best thing to do was to do family pictures and then sneak some senior pictures in.  I don't usually do that, but I figured that she knew how he would be the most comfortable and what would be the most successful.    I am so glad that we did it this way, she was definitely right!  I hope Alex at least had a decent time, but I could tell that he was not really into it - maybe if I'd had another hour with him....  just kidding, I think that would have made him super anxious!  I just hope in the future he keeps allowing himself to be photographed for those he loves.  Because even though he didn't want to do it, he did a great job and didn't complain at all.                                                 ...
