Emma Senior Pictures, Boulder

I did Emma’s sister Lizzy’s senior pictures a few years ago, so when Emma’s mom called to schedule hers, I was so excited! It’s always such a joy to photograph another member of a family. There’s something so special about seeing families over the years!  I just adore having these connections. Just like with Lizzy’s session, this one had its own little adventures! With Lizzy, we could only photograph in one spot for a few minutes before needing to move and we needed to find another location.  When we went to the other location, it was so great! With Emma, we had to reschedule twice , but the third time turned out to be absolutely perfect. If we hadn't rescheduled two times, we wouldn't have seen this amazing orange tree that was so similar to an image from Lizzy's session.  I love that connection! Emma was so sweet and easy to be around. Her mom, sister, and boyfriend came along for the session, which made the day even more fun. Her little sister is completely ad...

Melissa and Pat's wonderful family, Boulder

It was so cold the day we did this family session! The sun went behind the mountain and it was instant frigidness. We were all hustling to wrap things up before we froze completely! But even in the rush, there were these beautiful, genuine moments between laughs and shivers. Right at the end, I got this wonderful little pocket of time with Melissa and Pat. Usually, I don’t get quite as much time with the parents, but this time I did and I loved it. There’s something really special about seeing the couple behind the family, the foundation that everything else is built on. They were so warm and connected, even in the freezing cold, and I think that made those last few photos my favorite of the whole session. Pat's parents were in town and Melissa wanted to make sure they got some pictures with them before they left, they were so great to pop into a few photos before they hustled off to get warm. I know the boys weren't super excited about doing pictures, but I do hope someday ...

Chris and Pat's wonderful family, Reunion

Family photos are always such a mix of fun, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos! There’s something so special about watching families come together. There is a silliness to wrangling of everyone into one frame.  It is heartwarming to witness the love of families coming together. Chris and Pat’s family was no exception! They were so warm, fun, and full of energy. I loved photographing them! We definitely lucked out that day, too. The wind had been absolutely wild , and I was worried we’d have to postpone. But somehow, we found this perfect little hidden spot in the neighborhood near where we met. It was calmer and had some great leaves on the trees.  We also got some beautiful light!  It was absolutely perfect!   Honestly, I was so thankful we didn’t have to reschedule. Trying to coordinate five families again? Nearly impossible! Everything came together perfectly. Days like this are a reminder of why I love what I do - even when things do...
