Boulder Photography, Boulder flooding after photos

I know it seems a little superstitious, but I wanted to put a post between my sweet little girls and the zombies post I've been working on.  I have been planning this post for a few months and thought I should do it now.  A perfect buffer!

As summer approaches with Senior Pictures and Family Pictures, I am sad that I will not be going to Boulder a lot this year.  I have a favorite spot in Boulder that is absolutely beautiful!  It is large enough not to interfere with other people who are hiking, biking or running and I rarely run into other photographers there and there are lots of fuzzy dogs to enjoy!  Here are just a few images I have taken over the years in this spot.

After the floods last September, I went up to Boulder to see what it looked like.  I was so sad to see that my spot was filled with sand and most of the water was gone.  I wasn't able to walk around on the paths because they were roped off, but I am sure they looked like what most of the river banks looked like - full of displaced rocks, broken tree limbs and fallen tree trunks.
My favorite rocks were surrounded by sand, not water.  I remember when I first found this spot, I was so in love with the still water, beautiful trees, the rocks, the bridges and awesome colors.

It was devastating to see Boulder Creek like this.  I cannot imagine what people's houses look like.  I feel for all the people that had houses damaged in the floods.  I hope that the overfull rivers and storms we have been having do not do any damage this year.
I took this image in April this year and it doesn't look much different than the one above that I took in October.

Like so many other rocks and boulders, most of the rocks they were standing on were washed down the creek.
Many of these rocks were washed down stream too.  I really loved this spot too!

This is what the Children's Pond looked like in April.  I am hoping that it will be restored by next summer!
There is still a lot of restoring going on along the creek.
One of the reasons I don't think I will be going to Boulder for awhile is all the debris that lines the creek.  And all the debris in the trees.  I plan on going back this summer to see if it looks better when the trees have leaves.

Sage's Senior Pictures, Boulder

When I first showed up for Sage’s senior session, I just knew it was going to be something special. She was a little shy at first, but right away I could tell what a sweet and genuine young lady she is. And once she warmed up, she started to shine—it was such a joy to capture! The locations she chose were absolutely perfect, and they fit her so well. And then, as if the day knew how amazing Sage is, the sun came out just for her. It had been hiding behind the clouds for quite a while, but suddenly it burst through, lighting up her gorgeous hair and giving everything this beautiful, glowy warmth. It honestly felt magical, and I couldn’t have been more excited. Photographing Sage was such an honor. She’s kind, authentic, and absolutely radiant—I just adored every moment of her session! She has the greatest smile! I love these in the water!  It was such a beautiful day! I love this one!  It is just magical! Her and her brother are so cute! I love these in the grasses!...

Avery Senior Pictures, Denver Botanic Gardens

Avery is one of my incredible Senior Influencers, and she totally rocked her session! From the very beginning, she was ready to go!  Every pose I put her in, she made look amazing — it made photographing her an absolute joy. We started at the Denver Botanic Gardens, which was the perfect backdrop for her session. Everywhere we turned there were stunning plants, colorful flowers, and hidden little corners. Avery looked so natural — it was like the gardens were showing off just for her! After exploring the gardens, we headed over to Cheesman Park to slow things down a bit. The vibe there was more relaxed, with gorgeous light. It gave us the perfect mix of elegance and laid-back charm, and Avery’s personality shone through every single shot.   This session was such a fun combination of vibrant and chill, and Avery made it all look effortless. I can’t wait to share more from her senior year as one of my Influencers—she’s truly a star in front of the camera! I just l...

Elli, Senior Pictures

I was so excited for this session — my very first full Senior Session! These types of sessions are always my favorite!   It means I am getting back to work and there is always something so special about capturing a person right on the edge of everything new. And with Elli, I knew it was going to be a great one. From the moment we started planning, her energy and excitement made it clear: this was going to be one for the books. And it was — even with the weather throwing us a little curveball. About halfway through the session, the skies opened up and we had to pause for a solid 45 minutes. But honestly? Even that didn’t take away from how amazing the day was. The rain gave us a chance to slow down, laugh, and reset — and when we got going again, everything felt a little more magical - and the lighting post-rain? Gorgeous!   I was hoping for a rainbow, but sadly we missed that! Elli is such a joy to be around. She’s incredibly sweet, the kind of person who makes y...
