When my niece got engaged, I was so excited for them! When she asked me to photograph her wedding, I really REALLY wanted to! I mean it was in California on top of a hill with gorgeous views! Of course I wanted to photograph their wedding! But I also really wanted to be aunt and be able to soak in all the love and participate in everything! And I really wanted to dance a lot! It was a really hard decision! One I had already made with my nephew, so I thought it would be easier than it was. But then somehow, the idea of me photographing getting ready came up and I was even more excited! Getting ready is one of my favorite parts of the wedding day! Everyone is so excited and it is always the most chill part of the day. I absolutely love getting ready! And Lexi and Pat had a wonderful getting ready morning. It was so relaxed and fun! It was absolutely wonderful to see them hanging out with their friends and feel all the love!
I flew to Oregon to do their engagement pictures (and bring them some Mr and Mrs Rubber Duckys too!) and even then there was so much talk about the dress. I was trying to encourage them to do a first look, but Pat was adamant that he didn’t want to see the dress until Lexi walked down the aisle. And here is where I am sad I put my camera away, because Pat was all tears and full of emotion when he saw Lexi. The photographer was on the other side of Pat getting pictures of Lexi, which is where you would expect him to be. I really wish I had had the foresight to keep my camera and just keep photographing for like 2 minutes more. I really hope the photographer got some of that somehow (we are magical beings in case you didn’t know J) Because that is so Pat and so them. Maybe I will learn to paint and paint that memory for them…One of the bridesmaids had a 4 month old and he was hands down the most popular one there! He was just the cutest!
I adore my niece so much! Every time we are together is never long enough.
I was lucky enough to hang out with the guys and do some formals. I was hoping to get to do that with Lexi too, but I didn’t. A little bummed about that. But Pat and his groomsmen were so much fun!
My brother-in-law and nephews created and 3D printed these dragon eggs, all with little dragons inside! It was the greatest wedding center pieces ever! And each table got to keep a dragon and some people got to keep eggs (I have two! Only because my grandkids were there and they obviously needed one – or two because they don’t know how to share.) Even the staff at the venue was like those are amazing, I was like right?!?? Now I wish I had done more with the egg, dragons and the rings… all the ideas I have now!
